Geothermal heat is a promising source to enrich and significantly contribute to the renewable energy mix in a long-term perspective. To foster the use of geothermal energy in a secure, clean and efficient way, the European Commission (EC) supports twelve projects within the Horizon 2020 Programme (H2020) and pursues one project of the former 7th Framework Programme (FP7).
Scientific paper – presented at the session SS 41 “Weather & Microclimate” during the CLIMA 2016 Congress in Aalborg (Denmark) – summarizes the results of one the Cheap-GSHPs project tasks.
This scientific paper – presented at the session SS 37 “Building Performance” during the CLIMA 2016 Congress in Aalborg (Denmark) – synthesises the results of one the Cheap-GSHPs project tasks.
New drilling machine components were developed and tested in the field. The first results are very encouraging. Tubes with larger diameters than the ones actually used were installed in record time.
Research and Innovation is often related to the diffusion of new technologies. Nowadays the energy price fluctuations and the economic crisis are jeopardizing the development and diffusion of renewable energy technologies and sources. The improvement of the knowledge on thermal properties of the underground materials will help this project to achieve its challenging goals.
Underground property definitions represent one of the most relevant keys for the success of every civil engineering project, like shallow geothermal applications.
